On behalf of the pupils, Governors and staff I would like to welcome you to Homewood College. I hope that our website gives you an overview of what we can offer your child in terms of growing as a learner and an individual.
We are a maintained special school for pupils aged 11-16. All pupils who are referred to the school have an Education, Health and Care Plan. We place outstanding learning for our pupils as our priority. Our main goal is to ensure that every pupil is provided the highest quality of education possible in a safe, supportive and caring learning environment. Working together as a team with our staff and parents, we are committed to helping each pupil achieve their very best.
At Homewood we have high expectations for all our pupils, learning is our core purpose and we provide all our pupils with a relevant curriculum that is individualised to meet each pupil’s needs. We are dedicated to providing opportunities for all pupils to develop a range of life skills and moral values that enable them to better their life chances
We have a holistic, therapeutic approach, where every day is a fresh start, and pupils are treated as individuals. We have high expectations of pupils, and encourage them to be reflective, build their self-esteem, and do their best. We have a attachment aware and trauma informed approach and aim to help pupils deal with their issues and difficulties so that they can lead happy and fulfilled lives.
We aim to provide a safe, structured and stimulating environment where pupils are supported to overcome their barriers to learning. Pupils have access to the National Curriculum and a range of GCSE subjects as well as Functional Skills, AQA unit awards and vocational qualifications. The formal curriculum is well supported by additional activities planned around individual interests and skills. Developing emotional resilience, through relationship building and therapeutic input, is key to pupil success.
